NonStop Radio

has three core purposes:

  1. To discover and assist grassroots movements in keeping threatened Progressive Talk stations on the air for their communities,
  2. To assist grassroots efforts in re-establishing Progressive Talk stations where they have been canceled, or set up new Progressive Talk stations for markets not yet exposed to it, and
  3. To act as a clearinghouse of information so that activists everywhere can come to the aid of threatened and canceled stations, and to also distribute tips and tricks so that any non-threatened station can be made less vulnerable by its supporters.

WVKO Columbus needs your support to stay viable.

WVKO AM 1580 in Columbus, OH needs your support right now! Their front page spells it out - Columbus needs good salespeople and some cash to cover the expenses in the meantime. If you care about keeping this swing state informed of news and views free from right-wing talking points, go now!

VICTORY IN TEXAS!

KMNY 1360 AM in Dallas, TX brings Progressive Talk back to the Lone Star State! Starting a month from now (July 1, 2008), the station that brought Mike Malloy back to the area will expand to a full 24/7 Progressive Talk schedule. The domain of NorthTexasProgressiveTalkRadio.org has been secured and currently has links to the original home page of the group of dedicated activists who got lightning to strike twice in Dallas. If you haven't supported these great people before, now is the time - help them stabilize their new station!

Progressonomic Stimulus

What a sad vision we have before us. In 2001, tax money that could have been spent on the cries to repair our nation's crumbling infrastructure (the deadly I-35W Bridge collapse in Minneapolis comes to mind), or on the promise of health care for all (who knows how many lives have been devoured by the ravages of healthcare-for-profit) was being doled out to soothe a public whose confidence in the economy was a dying whisper.

Everywhere you look today, you can see examples of how that $300-per-person (roughly $38 Billion!) could have been better used. The same way that Home Depot or Walmart negotiates better deals than Mom-and-Pop stores (Quantity Buying) applies to tax money. Collectively, we could have used the government to leverage $38 billion to make everyone's lives better a lot more effectively than each of us managed by spending $300 individually.

Now, once again, we are stuck with knowing that the public coffers are going to be depleted of many billions of dollars, weakening our ability to use the collective power of the government to answer the urgent calls of our society. Indeed, the individual payouts this time of $600 should tell you that the collective power we hold in the government is being weakened far more than it was seven years ago.

So, it is up to us, individually, to spend our rebated taxes wisely. I'm not advocating placing the money in mutual funds, or utilizing any of the strategies that are sure to make Republican backers all the wealthier. I'm talking about using it to stimulate the economy in a way that matters: find out who the advertisers are for your local Progressive Talk station, and spend it with them.

I'm deadly serious. If you listen to Progresive Talk, spend the money on businesses and organizations who support reaching your fellow Americans with information free from right-wing talking points. Doing so is like pouring acid on the bonds of the Reupblican plan to keep its cold, hard grip on the reins of power.

More, Progressive Talk allows those who consider taxes to be an evil to hear how, properly administered, taxes simply accomplish large goals better than any other way known:

  • They can hear Rachel Maddow enumerate the benefits of a society that lives up to its responsibilities.
  • They can listen to Randi Rhodes explain how even the military teaches that any unit is only as strong as its weakest link, so it is in the best interest of society to strengthen those who need help.
  • Thom Hartmann could help them dispel their own deeply-held myths espoused by so many conservatives.
  • Stephanie Miller could make them laugh at the foolishness of clinging to selfish neo-con lies.
  • Mike Malloy could see them through their darkest fears and urge them forward to action.
  • Jon Elliott could show them how to hold those who abuse the good systems we have in this great nation to account for their crimes.

So many of the large retail chains who donate millions to right-wing candidates know that getting their hands on your tax money will let them keep buying up the media coast-to-coast (and keep starving the media that matters!). That's why those big-box stores and megacorporations are hawking constantly to trying to get you to put that money into their hands, money that should have been used to save lives and make America better as a whole, money those right-wing-owned businesses want to keep away from supporters of alterative voices.

NonStop Radio will hold to a higher standard than that. To keep us from taking more of your tax money away from the deserving sponsors of Progressive Talk, we are implementing an economic stimulus package of our own. We are lowering the base registration rate of the NonStop Radio Symposium to $49.

This will let you spend more of your tax money on all the other businesses and organizations that support Progressive Talk every day, and still attend the one-of-its-kind event August 1st through 3rd in Madison, Wisconsin designed to forge the first national community of people who are dedicated to securing the future of Progressive Talk. Cenk Uygur, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, John Nichols, Stephanie Miller, Rachel Maddow, and many more have committed their time to join you there. And now, NSR has allowed you to get there and still support the sponsors of Progressive Talk.

There is simply no better way to take this plundering of the national coffers and make something great come of it. Reinforce those who support the spirit of freedom our great nation is built around, and get to Madison August 1st through 3rd!

Yours in the Cause,
Aldous Tyler,
